Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about TweetsGone.
Safety & your account

TweetsGone is designed to operate carefully and responsibly. We are not aware of any accounts being suspended as a result of using the tool.

That said, X's terms of service prohibit certain types of automated activity, so there is always some inherent risk with any deletion tool. We recommend using TweetsGone sensibly rather than attempting to delete very large volumes in a single sitting every day.

Yes, completely. TweetsGone never asks for your password. We have no access to your account credentials, no server that receives your data, and no database storing anything about you.

The tool works with your existing X login — we never see it, store it, or interact with it in any way.

⚠ Deletions are permanent and non-recoverable. Once a tweet, like, reply, repost or unfollow is processed, it cannot be undone — not by TweetsGone, not by Twitter, and not by any third-party service.

Before running the tool, we strongly recommend downloading your Twitter data archive first. You can do this in X Settings → Your account → Download an archive of your data.

What TweetsGone does

You choose which of these five categories to process — select any combination before starting:

  • Tweets — your original posts
  • Posts — content you reposted from others
  • Replies — your replies to other tweets
  • Likes — posts you have liked
  • Following — accounts you currently follow

TweetsGone does not affect your direct messages, bookmarks, or profile information.

Yes. TweetsGone includes an optional date range filter. Set a From date, a To date, or both — and the tool will only process items posted within that window, skipping everything outside it.

This is useful if you want to keep recent content but clean up everything posted before a certain year.

Speed depends on the size of your account and your internet connection. Most users find the tool works quickly enough to clean up a typical account in a single session.

For very large accounts with thousands of items, multiple sessions may be needed. The tool will let you know when a session is complete and you can simply restart it to continue.

If the tab is closed or interrupted, the tool stops. Any items already processed remain deleted — there is no rollback. To continue, simply open TweetsGone again and start a new session.

⚠ Keep the browser tab visible and active while the tool is running. Screensavers and computer sleep mode may interrupt the session.
